October/November 2007
Antoine van Ruymbeke

Dear Members, dear Friends,

The MILSET Europe General Assembly 2007 was held in Bratislava (Modra), Slovakia during the last weekend of September. 50 delegates and guests from 18 countries representing 29 organisations took part in this General Assembly 2007 spanning over two days. Participants had the opportunity to attend workshops and to increase our internal exchanges.

This meeting was made possible thanks to the support and the endless implication of AMAVET Slovakia and its volunteers and the grants obtained trough the Youth-In-Action programme of the European Union.

We are really happy to see the MILSET Europe family growing and we are proud to welcome 7 new members and 6 new partners among us. Together, we're working towards increasing our programme of activities; 14 new common projects were presented and are to be developed in the coming years beside the ESE, ESDY and ESPC. The first step is the creation of a dedicated branch to group, promote and develop the (international) science camps in Europe!

To coordinate the upcoming work, two new members have been elected to join the Executive Committee: Mara Ruiz Lozano (INICE, Spain) and Gonçalo Pimentel (AJC, Portugal).

The large participation and the results of this meeting make it a success exceeding all our expectations and a really good sign for the future! We've made a big step ahead in our development and, with the implication of all, I'm convinced that we are ready to master the challenges facing us.

Best regards,

Antoine van Ruymbeke
MILSET Europe President
