February/March 2008
Steffen Stärz

Dear Members, dear Friends,

2008 has just begun and the first of our activities is already fully running. The 2nd edition of the European Science Photo Contest (ESPC) has been launched and is attracting your interest.

In the same spirit the activity for the 4th European Science Day for Youth (ESDY) has been chosen to be carried out on 24th March 2008 all over Europe. Everything is spinning around the sun, it is taking a central position and focusing all our attention for this year's edition Anna-Maria Antonova Petrova from Bulgaria proposed the activity "Sun Energy".

I'm also looking forward to the new cooperations which will be established by our Common Project Proposals which have been presented recently. To make them accessible more easily a system to browse them has been set up on our website.

But let me also express my concerns about the implementation of European Voluntary Service (EVS): In combination with our activities EVS opens us unique possibilities of close collaboration within our movement. Why don't we use these resources? I wish you to signalise your interest in hosting or sending a volunteer in order to take out the maximum of efficiency of our work.

We are on a good way, but we can even make it better.

In this spirit I wish you a successful year 2008 and I'm looking forward to meeting you on our this year’s main event, the Expo-Sciences 2008 in Budapest.

Best regards,

                                                               Steffen Stärz
                                                  MILSET Europe Vice-President
