Dear friends at MILSET!

The season of 2008/2009 in all of MILSETs member organizations has now begun with scientific activities and joyful events dedicated to youngsters. The Danish Youth Association of Science (UNF) has been a member of MILSET for one year now. Back then we had heard of other organizations around the world with the same commitment as we, to promote the interest in science in technology among youngsters through various activities. But try to imagine the amazement we all felt when we first became aware of MILSET and its huge network consisting of organizations dedicated to contribute to this important field! We never expected to find so many people sharing the same dedication and this only confirmed the importance of our mission.

I personally believe that we all have a responsibility, to use what we have been given and have achieved by our own to help people, to do good things, to make a real difference. Our children and the generations that will follow after them deserve that. That is why it is so important to work closely with the youngsters and listen to them, in order to make the right decisions in the next few years to come. It is the youngsters of today, who feel the same as I do, who really want to use what they have for good and to make a difference, who will make those decisions in the future.

These dedications resulted in what has now become the Youth Climate Conferences (YCC), through the close cooperation between MILSET and UNF. The YCCs main purpose is to listen what the youngsters have to say regarding the climate. Through the YCC we give youngsters a way to communicate their concerns to the world leaders in unison, worldwide. At the final YCC climate conference hosted by UNF and MILSET Europe in Denmark in August in 2009, a global statement is prepared from the contributions of all activities. But in order to make the best out of it we need your help. Help us by organizing your own climate activity and have a workshop in the process where you prepare your own statement and bring it to the conference! Read more about the YCC and get inspired on how you can create your own climate activity at our website, www.ycc2009.org.

With that said, I wish you all a time of joy with your activities and a lot of happiness to you and your families and friends. I am looking forward to working even closer together with you in 2009!

Yours Sincerely,

Danny K. Malkowski
